Would Starcatcher Star Celia Keenan-Bolger Fly on Broadway as Peter Pan? 'That Could Be Fun!'

Celia Keenan-Bolger, who earned a Tony nomination for her performance in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, is currently living in the land of Neverland as one of the stars of the Peter Pan prequel Peter and the Starcatcher. She plays female heroine Molly Aster in the new play, but, as she revealed on an upcoming episode of Show People with Paul Wontorek, she's always had her eye on the role of the boy who wouldn't grow up.

As a kid, Keenan-Bolger says she was "totally obsessed" with the 1954 musical Peter Pan, which starred Mary Martin and was filmed for TV. "I loved that video," she says. "And loved the recording. I was super into the musical." During high school, Keenan-Bolger had the chance to play Peter in a Michigan community theater production. "[It was] so fun. Really exciting. I'm sure I was terrible and I'm sure every single line reading was like Mary Martin's line reading from the video!"

Would Keenan-Bolger ever consider donning the tights again and playing the role on the Broadway stage? "That could be fun!" she admits. "I do love that show. There are really beautiful songs in it."

Peter and the Starcatcher, which also stars Adam Chanler-Berat and Christian Borle, opens April 15 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
